In our lives, courage takes many forms. The forms can be either very public or private. It can also guide us in a time of troubles. It is the inner strength found in each of us.

Maya Angelou once said, "Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage". Courage exists in every day life in many forms. It can be located on the streets, in the courtroom, sports field, and more. It is basically how we face each day and each challenge.

As Eddie Rickenbacker once said, "Courage is doing what your afraid to do. There can be no courage unless your scared". Courage presents itself most when faced with a difficult or agonizing life challenge. It emerges most when someone is scared and needs the inner strength and courage to complete the task.

Aristotle said it best when he said, " Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees the others". Courage encourages and brings out qualities that might not emerge in a difficult situation, challenge or task. However, it can be the driving force in making something happen.

Courage has three basic qualities. These qualities are consistent virtue, overcoming challenges, and bringing out the other qualities in an individual. It helps define us as individuals in a community.
