We hear about each day about the latest research on DNA. It talks about the latest disease to be tied
to a gene or human DNA. A gene is a characteristic or trait someone gets from his or her parents.
These traits can be good or bad. Sometimes, it can mean a chance of heart disease or some form of
cancer. Now, it becomes important to research and write down your family's medical history. Include
your aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, etc. You need to include their cause of death if they
already died and their age. Include the paternal (father's) side in this search. If possible, go back
at least several generations because it can help you find out what are the chances of getting something.
It could in the future make it easier to diagnose and treat a genetic medical condition.
